We took the evening ferry to Calais on Wednesday 24 August and spent that night pitched up in the aire at Cité Europe with a few other vans. We tried to leave at 9 a.m. but took rather a long time finding the filling station, which was in fact on the near-by auto route (the Carrfour station not being accessible due to height barriers and/or an impassible underpass). Very odd, as the previous night we had such trouble finding the way into Cité Europe because of height barriers unknown to Garmin. I just want to add that a very helpful floor manager at Carrfour did explain to us how to access the auto route filling station. So our journey into central France began...
