One of the wonderful things about getting the van fixed at Azur 37 is that it is so close to Vouvray. We drove straight there, sought out the aire des services, parked, and had lunch on the nearby picnic tables. As is often the case there was a campsite next to the aire, but it didn't appear to be open.
The building on the right here is the Cave Des Producteurs in (what we thought was) the centre of Vouvray. It's where we've traditionally stopped whenever we've been to or passed through the Loire Valley. We love Vouvray's semi-sparkling white wine and like to stock up with it.
This building, viewed from its car park at the back as seen here, is the only view of Vouvray we usually see. It's at traffic lights on a main road that runs along the north side of the Loire east of Tours. Not very inviting really.
However, having already found the aire, we thought we'd look around further and we found the actual centre of Vouvray was not at the traffic lights but uphill from them.
There was much more to Vouvray than we thought
We kept going up, and up.
Until we reached the vineyards at the top.
This was the first time we'd visited Vouvray in a motorhome. Now we know there's an aire here we are likely to stop for longer next time and get to know Vouvray better.
