On 27 August we pitched up in the aire at Collonges-la-Rouge. On the way south we sayed near Vernon on the Seine intending to visit Giveny, but the weather was appalling so we went on to Chartres and stayed one night at the surly municipal; weather still a bit northern English. Various things went wrong with the van, but I sorted them out, kind of (the storage water pump pipe kept coming off its connector (I think it had lost an 'O' ring - we later found out that is
joint in French and they had hundreds in Meyssac).

We have loads of reasons for loving this ridiculous little town, totally dedicated through six centuries to tourism, R&R for knights and so forth.

It's not exactly tat, but the gear is certainly highly priced. We know, we've bought lots of things over the years of coming here.
