Travelling in the New Motorhome

We collected our third motorhome on 7 August from Lowdham's Huddersfield. On 13 August we set off on our first trip in it which is still continuing. There are many things wrong with it: hand brake locks on; brakes squeal; ablution door very difficult to shut; fresh water holding tank leaks (or is it the hot water boiler, I now think); electric hot water drop valve faulty and on day one the hab door locked shut. The latter was repaired quickly enough by Lowdham's. The rest will have to wait until we return.

This present trip started as a way of taking Chris to King's hospital for her three month eye check. All was said to be well as the two surgeon, a registrar and a 'student' cooed over their achievements. One has super treatment in London. We stayed at Crystal Palace CC site as usual and took the opportunity to visit Den and Roy at their sandwich bar. Den's daughter cut Chris's hair, rather well I thought as you can see whilst she promenades through Pont de l'Arche at the confluence of the Eure and the Seine.

We thought it was a good idea to take a short two week hol in France whilst down south, after visiting Christine's oldest friend, Kathy. It was nice to catch up with David on how appallingly badly Aston Villa are fairing. We set off for Dover on Saturday, drove down to Montreuil to find the aire damn near full - and this is our special aire. We discovered it. The weather was dreadful so we decided to motorhome south to the Loire, but break the journey at least once.

So this is Pont de L'Arche, a place we first visited in our first motorhome on our first trip in it to France. How appropriate then to pitch up at its new aire de camping car along with about 14 other units on a site designated for 4 overnighters. The municipal campsite next to which the aire has been built, was complet. Here we discovered the water leak.

Chris quickly locates the only boulangerie-pattiserie that's open.

And quiet admires the over-ornate church.
