To Slimbridge WWT

Last week we took Ez down to Dorset to see Dorelia, Maeve, Harriet and Dan.  But first she had an overnight stop with us and we had to line up various toys and play school.

Next day (Tues 23rd July) we set off in the motorhome on the way to Slimbridge, our overnight stop on the way to Dorset.

We stayed at a Camping & Caravanning Club  THS, a temporary holiday site.  This is usually basic camping on the cheap and you don't have to book.  This one was actually held in a field at The Tudor Caravan Park, which meant it wasn't really basic as, although we didn't have electric hook up (don't need it with our solar panel) we did use the shower block.

Nearby, and the main reason we chose this THS, is the Slimbridge field centre of the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, of which we are members.  So after settling in at the site we set off for it.

This was part of a rather nice little show garden that had been at the Chelsea Flower Show

A quiet time watching the waders.  Though I think Ez was actually finishing her ice cream.

Then on to the play area.

Which was quite extensive

and well kept.

We'd have liked to stay there longer but we arrived late in the day and they were soon due to close.

The '5 minute walk' back to the site was more like 15 minutes along a dead straight road.
