On Thursday 22 August we visited Saumur by motorhome and parked next to the military school of horse riding. This was our first visit ever to the centre of French military equitation.
... And its fine Third Republic postal headquarters of the early XX century (it still only had one counter open).
Saumur is noted for a very big castle-type chateau with a dry moat and towers, but most impressively it has an early loggia stair case in the bailey courtyard. We will be seeing more of these. They really did catch on in a big way with the Anjou aristos.
There was a nice display of horse riding during our visit, performed in part by out-of-work actors.
On returning we came upon a photo-shoot outside Mango's chain store. The dick-head in red is photographing the models, a bride and groom in wedding attire. Unfortunately the dick-head who took this photo was using his really slow reacting cheap-ex camera and the bicyclettist got in the way.
The sun se coucherates itself into the Loire.
