The Van Swap

This morning we drove to Lowdhams in Huddersfield to hand over the Medallion and pick up the Hymer. We met Christian there as he'd come along to join us. First we had to do a bit of paperwork with Heather, the salesperson, then we met Dave who gave us an induction into the workings of the Hymer. Fortunately the previous owners had passed on all the manuals so, as we won't remember everything we were told, we can read up on it. The first photo shows both vans together. While our gas bottles were being transferred from one van to the other we went to the office to pay the balance, as it wasn't of course a straight swap.

We were home with the van by lunchtime. John found it very easy to drive and it certainly felt like a smooth ride to me. It was easy to park it on the drive too.

The afternoon was spent filling the van with all the stuff we'd taken out of the Medallion.

It'll take a while before we find a suitable home for everything.

Although it's two feet shorter than the Medallion the Hymer has at least as much storage space. It's just that it's distributed differently. I've yet to find a suitable space for storing bottles (oil, wine, soft drinks), whereas the Medallion had a 'cocktail cabinet'.

I'm looking forward to working out how best to pack everything away. Tonight though is set aside for browsing through the manuals.
