The South Pier. There's nothing on it, unlike Llandudno, however attention from the seagulls was less.
During the 1960s Southport did not clear out all its Victorian cast iron, and so we can still see the finest Glaswegian craftsmanship of King & Sons, Possilpark. Again and again in fact as there must be at least a dozen of these shelters.
Quite why this electrical fitting survived is something of a mystery.
On South Pier ...
the wind was so strong my Nikon lens hood was blown off from the pier onto the strand some 10 metres below.
Chris bravely paddled over to where it lay and rescued it. And next I lost my hat and she rescued it from a pond. It's a bit difficult in Southport referring to the sea, because as everyone knows you do not see the sea in Southport. That does not stop the immense stretch of sands from being rather wet.
There's a park for doing this exciting stuff.
And the more traditional ride.
