If we'd been at the front this is what we might have seen of the Magic of Motown
As it was ...
On Friday night we went to the Magic of Motown tribute show. Started with an Abba tribute band who were OK if you like performers being professional Swedes. But they started bang on 19.00hrs and stopped spot on 20.00hrs.Suppose out door events are like this: too far back; wind carries away some of the sound; bored kids; cripples in wheelchairs; not enough lavatories and so on. It seems like a good idea, but it's fading nostalgia for something that may not really have existed in the first place. I was trying to remember being in the Jigsaw or the Twisted Wheel in Manny in 1966 and it's a constructed fantasy really. Just merciful that none of these party-time show business performers pretended to be Marvin Gaye.
