Esmé may well have been sleeping over Saturday to Sunday, but the vegetable that is IET grows on. Debbie, one of the FIs, had me on the Swapathon crew in the Tod Leisure Centre this morning from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Don't ask me what it means, I still don't know, but a lot of vol orgs messing about in healthy living put up stalls and did things that might be interesting to young and old alike. Well, a fair number of the former turned up and we had some interesting discussions about growing. Many names were added to our email list.

These kids are identifying culinary herbs with the help of Debbie. In the foreground is a plate of Carra potatoes grown at Gorpley (309m above sea level), free-range Tod eggs and the resulting frittata baked by Debbie.

We had people planting their own broad bean seed as a gimmick which went down quite well with the kids. Amazing the many uses a cat litter tray may perform!
And what of Esmé? She was outside with her Nana, riding her bike (pink, glittery), playing crazy golf (using her gloves rolled up as a ball; well, it's crazy), watching boys playing football. Then she visited the Swapathon and had a great time visiting all the stalls and collecting stickers, rounded off by playing for ages on the climbing frames for very young persons.
