Hymer Mass in Running Order

We arrived about noon at Lowdham's Huddersfield today with every intention of a thorough examination of this Hymer that took our fancy at the weekend.
We still think it's very nice, so had a test drive: lovely handling - very tight turning circle, easy to park, though not so powerful as the Medallion.
We spent a couple of hours with sales staff and on our own trying things out, finding how it worked and what we didn't like.
We'll want the lamps changing for LEDs and so Heather brought some from the shop to indicate willingness to do this very thing.
The shower is a big improvement on the Medallion.
Chris and I tried the over cab bed which could be permanently made up ready to sleep, like at home, once you've negotiated the ladder. Heather was also OK about swapping the leisure battery for one rated 110 Ah, i.e. ours.

Many things concern us about the van we have: too few belted seats to take out grandchildren and other adult persons we go to see (they of course may be grateful for this!). Also there is the LEZ compliance issue. At the moment the Medallion is only on remission of non-compliance grace à Boris Johnson. This Hymer's engine, or maybe it's Maximum Technical Permitted Laden Mass of just 3.4 tonnes, mean that it's complient. It's MIRO (Mass in Running Order) was not given. However as the card below shows, Lowdham's claim the 'payload' to be 560kg. We asked them to send the van to a weighbridge and its actual weight at the time was 2790kg. However as there was no driver, little fuel, no water, no gas, this figure is below the MIRO which does include allowances for those things.
Should we buy it? They've only offered us £16,500 for the Medallion, so there's still a hell of lot to find. We are keen and rather taken with the C544. Having posted on motorhomefacts about this van, Faxters sing its praises as a marque and in particular this series from Hymer.
