On the third day we took the bus to the
Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy
What I thought was a summerhouse in the garden was in fact built as an aquarium, though not functioning as one now.
The house holds an impressive collection
of furniture ...
stained glass ...
and art works, from the artists and craftsmen of the school of Nancy.
This is a portrait of Jean Prouvé by his artist father, Victor. Victor had another son, Henri, an architect, and Jean's son Claude was also an architect. Initially, when we went round the the Musée des Beaux-Arts it was confusing because there were exhibits by all of these. It took a while to work out the relationships.
We had lunch in a nearby bar. The woman seen at the coffee machine was very helpful in directing us to the correct bus stop to visit the botanic gardens.
These gardens, a few kilometres from the centre of Nancy were known to tourist information. We spent an hour or so wandering around there in the sunshine before trudging back up a steep hill to our campsite.
