We Visit Glen Nevis

On Tuesday 26 June bright and early we caught the 10.58 to the lower falls of Glen Nevis. Imagine my utter amazement when this decker hoved into view, driven by Ivan the Terrible as fast as possible along a narrow switch-back road. We sat in the front of the upper saloon. The weather was fine and sunny. The lower falls are a delight, but we wanted go to the higher falls, so we set-off not along the burn-side path, but the metalled road. The theory was, I am told, that we could more easily calculate how long it would take to catch Ivan's return trip two hours later. We did have ample sandwiches and beverages.
Below are the upper falls. Not so impressive. By this stage we nearly 1,000 feet up, however it's still a sylvan glade of a glen ...
... with orchids in variety and plenty of them. Indeed the whole flora really was alpine and I would wish for more time to observe and identify. Alas we must go back.

This is Ben Nevis looking much more like its 4,000 odd feet. One is still not able to see the top from such a vantage point.

Don't know what fine buttresses we are looking at.
We were of course quite right to return as it started raining hard and the evening finished with Scotch Mist.
