We have limited internet connection so here is a quick preview of what we've been doing. We went on from Ypres to stay for three nights with friends Kate and Robert who live just South of Peronne.
Robert took us around the WW1 sites. At this point the British and French front lines met. On 1 July 1916 the combined armies attacked German positions behind where Robert and John are standing in this picture.
On another day Robert took us to look around the nearby town of St Quentin.
When we left Kate and Robert we stayed one night on an aire in Reims.
Then on to Verdun for 2 nights.
Currently we are staying near Nancy, where we had the French version of afternoon tea in The Excelsior. Hopefully on to Metz tomorrow.
