With the 400 mm Lens at Chatsworth

We stayed at the Caravan Club site in the old kitchen garden of Chatsworth park for my birthday (photos of new kitchen garden, laters). So I thought I'd try out the 400 mm lens for the first time, which I bought the other month. Of course as soon as I was out the gate into the park this stag led his herd of deer at a cracking pace about 300 m away. No time to set anything up, I just clicked away.
Hidden now by these massive beech trees

It was educational trying out this enormous lens on an inadequate tripod. I now know that I really do need a quality professional tripod to support maybe four kg of kit. The wind just has to blow slightly for this tripod to wobble.
