We arrived to camp at the show at lunchtime on the Friday. The show didn't open to non-camping members of the public until the next day so when we wandered around the stalls that evening while they were being set up there was quite a relaxed atmosphere. I asked a man at Detroit Solar to 'sell' us a solar panel. He did in a gentle but convincing manner. We said we weren't sure there would be room on our van roof, amongst the skylights, for the size panel it would be worth having and he said they'd come round and measure up.
Which they did. We arranged to have it fitted the next morning and so far it's been great. It tops up the charge in our leisure battery and makes us more confident of staying on sites without electric hook-up. We bought many more motorhome related products over the next couple of days including: some adaptors to charge some of our equipment from the 12 volt system; some external insulation screens for the cab windows; an inverter to charge things, like the Macbooks, that can't charge directly from 12 volt; a dinky little contraption for toasting bread on the hob and some good quality microfibre towels.
