Gaby, Mark and Esmé came for Christmas lunch. John used Delia again for timing the turkey. His sage and onion stuffing is from a family recipe.
Esmé started out feeling fine, though she wasn't particularly hungry.
She showed a little more enthusiasm for unwrapping and playing with her presents
Then, very quickly, she seemed overcome by flu-like symptoms and fell asleep.
John's last minute Christmas cake (another Delia recipe) and his second batch of mince pies were sampled later. We both liked the pastry John made: very thin and no sugar so the only sweetness was in the mincemeat.
