Return to France - Amiens

Returning to our recent holiday in northern France ...
The Somme winds slow, deep and wide through Picardie. The many islands and adjacent wetlands make it a wonderful wildlife habitant now.
The barges take tourists on the Somme in Amiens round the ancient hortillonages. I think these are allotments started in Roman times on islands in the Somme - much sort after these days.

We make our way down to the quai.
And our first sighting of Amiens's huge gothic cathedral.

The west facade is vast and richly decorated.
