The Pavé and City Beyond

... Returning to our recent trip to France ... have I mentioned this before?

A huge square opposite the cathedral - with the modernist architecture cunningly omitted.

At what do the pilgrims gaze so earnestly ...

... but the fruits of a sinful life?

And pleasures indeed beckon, though no one rides this carousel.

Hard by the railway station, said by SNCF to be of 'architectural merit' (though I strongly disagree), is this brutalist tower block of municipal flats built in the 1930s - by the Front Populaire?? Was it a challenge to the cathedral maybe?

C'est pas magnifique, mais c'est une gare.
