Every three years a strawberry bed has to be re-planted with new runners. In the autumn all the old plants were hoiked out and the runners potted up. I over-wintered about 90 plants. The beds were prepared in a new way. Permeable sheeting is stretched over the soil. The idea is to warm up the soil, retain moisture, suppress weeds, deter slugs and keep the fruit off of the soil to reduce fungal infection. I've planted out about 45 plants, so still a lot left over.

Yesterday I did the planting out. It took most of the afternoon.
