Friends Jan and Jan now have a caravan so we all planned to go away together for their first trip. We met in the lay-by between Todmorden and Burnley.
We chose to stay at Broadgate Farm at Bleasdale in the Forest of Bowland. John and I stayed here on the same weekend last year.
Jan and Jan have had a trailer tent for some time, but this trip was partly to get to know the more 'sophisticated' equipment of the caravan. Here John is showing Jan how to prime the toilet cassette with water and chemicals.
On the Saturday we went for a walk, the same walk we did with Bob and Liz last year.
This year it was even more muddy ...
... as we went through the fields ...
... and on to the private road. It was also very misty.
Back to the campsite.
Next day we went to Beacon Fell Park. Jan had twisted her ankle so stayed near the visitor centre with Jim, the dog, while Jan, John and I went on one of the walks.
We first made our way to the summit, which had a fantastic view,
or would have done if there had been less mist.
And back through the wood.
Each evening we ate in the caravan, which had much more space, and more comfortable upholstery, than our little van. We were invited over for breakfast too, to eat their hens' eggs.
On Monday morning we all had to go. It was still dull and misty but we hadn't had any rain.
I'm sure the Hymer motorhome seen here was in the same position last year, with no-one seen coming and going. Someone must be storing it here.
