Towed Off Of Le Shuttle

All went well until I tried to start the motorhome. It would not start. We were right at the front of the vehicle queue in our section and so holding up many vehicles. They sent for the man who removes dead vehicles.

 With the Chef de Train looking on we were attached to this vehicle above and towed off. Next there was a rather scary loose-attached tow from the channel tunnel to the nearest place they could think of the legitimately dump us and sort it out.
That was the Total service station at an on-ramp of the A16 - this becomes important. I phoned our European breakdown service who said we were on motorway private property and so could not call assistance for us. We would have to phone 112 for police assistance. This turned out to mean that the police sent a private breakdown service to aid us. The garagiste quickly worked out the problem. It was a blocked or possibly leaking fuel line. It was solved by using the installed manual pump - a simple squeezey bulb in the fuel line (you just had to know where it was). However the paperwork side took time. There were several phone calls to our breakdown service to allow the work and satisfy our garagiste that Garage du Moulin would be paid. In the meantime the battery locker cover came right off in my hands as I tried to open it in order for these guys to check the battery. So we had a motorhome whose engine will run but an exposed pair of batteries. Fortunately it didn't rain that night or the next day.

On Monday we went to Garage du Moulin to see if they could repair the fuel line and the locker door.  No luck on either. The foreman said the fuel supply was OK and we knew what to do if it failed - fix it latters in England. As to the locker door he did have a go and his rivet gun broke down!

So he sent us to Norauto at Auchan nearby. After some persuasive old chat the foreman screwed it back on, sort of and it seems to be holding, but neither problem is satisfactorily and definitively solved.
