Because of our over-night in Northamptonshire we arrived early on Saturday and went straight to Den and Roy's in Erith. Chris wanted to see and talk to her cousin (on the maternal side) mainly because she had recently undergone a serious operation on her back. She had been in increasing pain for some time and thankfully now seems to be improving, but it'll be a slow business.
Then in the early afternoon we continued to Abbey Wood CC site and got ourselves ready for the Golden Wedding Party of Pat & Sylvia that evening. Pat is Christine's cousin on the paternal side. We went to the party on the B11 from outside the post office at Abbey Wood - a very pleasant journey.
Pat and Sylvia led off the dancing.
There was a lovely cake.
Their son Christopher is on the right and Sylvia's oldest friend Jean is on the left.
We returned to Abbey Wood in a taxi, the buses having stopped.
Next morning Sunday 31 August we drove to Rochester to see Kathy and David then it was off to Folkestone for the shuttle through the Channel Tunnel, only our second trip and our first in this direction.
