Here's a collection of scenes which cover Xmas celebrations and what happened yesterday.  

 I spotted a kingfisher fishing out of next door's canal-side shubbery. It's at least 150m away through a window and lot of woodwork. So not a good photo, but it was really great to watch and this counts as a memory of the event. We have other memories of separating two cats from a kingfisher they brought into the house to play with. It survived.

 Next door did Church Walk proud with the largest display of Xmas house bling in Todmorden. It was on day and night for the statutory period of November to New Year's Day.

 I try out the first batch of Seville orange marmalade on the IF crowd. They don't seem overly impressed.

 Thursday the IF crowd went up to Lumbutts to look over a kind of 15 acre nature reserve developed by a former national politician. Nick's idea is that we have live stock on the open grassland on the southern highest part of this north facing fell side. It's was planted up with broadleaf trees the last time about ten years ago.

 

 One can see how well they have grown after ten years. After all it's north facing and so the length of the sunny seasons is much shorter than the south facing land all around Lumbutts. However access is reasonable and obviously  there is running water on site.

There is also a badger set - a very big one.
