Wood Chopping

Roger Burnett gave me a load of Leylandii hedging which he had felled. It's been seasoning outside for a couple of years. Now I have found the time to chop and stack it inside for final drying. We'll see how it burns in Autumn.

At Tod market this morning I found a couple of volumes which the trader let go for £4. A rather handsome Bentham and Hooker (1920) British Flora, Reeve, London and from the same house Fitch (1923) Illustrations of the British Flora. Both volumes were pre-owned (as we now say) by Frank Crabtree 431 Bury Rd Rochdale. I hope he enjoyed his botanising from what in the 1920s must have been a very grim mill town.
