Stan came round today to collect their Wick's ladder platform. We borrowed it from Stan & Jude a few weeks back to prune the armandii. It was certainly the correct time of year, after the clematis had flowered, but I'm far from sure I did it effectively. This clematis had not been properly pruned for several years and was growing into the garage eaves and roof space. It isn't doing that, but tearing out those long runners did rather drag off many new shoots. We shall see if it recovers. Down to its basic structure I would say.
