Flatford Mill - The Stour Suffolk

Between 1-4 June I was away at a residential course run by Field Studies Council at their Flatford Mill Centre. It was called Wild Flowers for Beginners: the top 20 families. The Tutor was Ros Bennett and there were ten participants. Tuesday was a miserably wet and rather cold day. However it soon improved and on our first day we began to learn about wild flower identification in an organised and methodical manner. We had talks, discussions, didactic sessions and field observations. The families were introduced via their most common and obvious members. On the first day everything we studies was within the Flatford Mill grounds just metres away from the Constable views, although not beneath typically Constable skies.
