gigantica survived the winter and is in flower now. It will flower this once and then die.
Bought as an Allium, this specimen is like the one in the garden at Flatford Mill which we could not key out as an Allium. However searches on the Internet do show specimens of a similar kind with this form: see

The problem border of last year has been re-planted and is now looking much better.
Roger Burnett made a narrow damp border by the canal decking for the Primulas.
The new Acer is growing well.
Stream-side we've taken out all the decaying rubbish, cleaned it up, planted more Primula and, my idea, lined the stream with North Sea pebbles (at great expense from Rigg's). Think it works OK.
