There was a serious morning's lab session on the last day followed by a field trip really intended to study sedges, but we started with this verge of interest and an opportunity for me to point out the identification differences between meadow and bulbus buttercup! No Goldilocks here of course. Erm, the photos are not intended to be indicative!
A field of beet.
We are in the nature reserve: Ros, Angus, Allison, Michelle and Emily, Karen and Clare.
And start to examine the sedges seriously: male and female on one 'stalk'.
They are growing in a tight clump in a small bog.
Male and female together, but in a different arrangement of whorls.
