If you've been following this blog you'll know Sheila & John from Kirkcudbright. They part own a narrow boat which they are driving from Brighouse to somewhere in Nottinghamshire. We met them at their mooring for the night in Gauxholme, Todmorden. Chris and Sheila are planning out a route, we're going to take real soon - like today! John & John were sampling the Highland Park.
We re-joined them at Pinnel lock where John is dubious about various things from anti-vandal locks to draught.

These two are supposed to be lowering a paddle and securing the anti-vandal lock. Bonnie flits between Sheila and John.
We leave our chums near Summit "the highest lock in England" but only two boats a day in either direction are allowed through by BWB uniformed officials. They must wait until tomorrow, when the sun is off the new swing bridge and it can cool down sufficiently to actually swing. However they are now re-provisioned and with Thetford cassette empty may safely travel forward toward the hell-hole that is Greater Manchester.
