Walsden Flooded Again

Walsden is once again flooded. After a day of fitful torrential downpours the area round the railway station was flooded in exactly the same way as it was last time. The same road has been smashed and washed out as the same culvert broke down.

Pathetic. 

But the upper Calder Valley did have about 30 mm of rain in as many minutes, we are told.

 The new road has been smashed and washed away. The road is the only vehicle access to a terrace on the hillside (just visible) where friends of ours live. They are not there at the moment.

 The flood waters pour into the Roch to join the Calder from the north, underneath the  market hall!

 And the photo journalists are there to make a living out of it.

 No trains for a while.

 This is supposed to be the properly repaired access road to the station.
This second event will be used as an additional excuse by the rail authorities to close Walsden station, I guess (there'll be some civil engineering flannel about securing the line from flooding being easier without the station there).
