We split the return trip over two days, mainly to give Chris time to rest and allow for the administration of drops.
Our half-way point is normally in Rutland. In the past we have stopped at the Ram Jam Inn, but it has closed.
The Sibson Inn is only accessible from the A1 travelling north, but it's in the BritStops scheme. So motorhomers can stay the night for free and there's supposed to be no pressure to buy anything.
We set off on the final leg of this journey home about 10 a.m. this morning. The wind, rain, or drizzle and fog set-in as we passed into Yorkshire and on Saddleworth moor just near junction 22 on the M62 we were brought to a dead stand by the police. It seemed ages until something happened and we learned what the trouble was. Sheep and lambs were on the carriage-way, perhaps confused by the fog. Apparently it's the police's job to move them off, using their vehicles.
Then we came home. Whilst we were away there's been 42 mm of rain. The garden is out of control, however our wonderful friend Lynne has looked after the seedlings indoors very well and I'll start potting-on tomorrow.
Roll on next week and the train journey back to London. Such fun: staying in Bloomsbury and travelling to Camberwell on the old 68; my favourite route.
