This morning Maeve went to her friend's house so the rest of us went for a walk up and down the Downs to the sea. The ground was frozen. Dory loved cracking the ice in the ruts of the cart tracks; sploshed on her bottom in a wet muddy rut just the once.

Here is Dorelia in the pose of a Viking spear maiden she looks across to one of the many barrows on the Downs.

I was surprised by the variety of wildlife we actually saw on this little walk. First a fox ambled across a ploughed field. And that was the first live one that I have seen in a rural natural setting. The three deer in the photo below crossed into the dry valley we were about to exit via. There was also a large hare, which didn't move much.
