January, February ....

When John started this blog he called it 'Johnny's View Over the Canal. It's a good view, showing parts of our garden, the canal with bridge over it, mill buildings and the hills beyond. it's a good place for checking and monitoring changes in the weather. The photo above was taken on 28th January, there's sunshire and a light dusting of snow.
On 4th February there was more snow, on a frozen canal, and it was dull
On 6th Feb the sun was out again.
On Sunday 5th John, Lynne and I decided to abandon our usual walk along the canal and just do a quick turn round the block.
Above we're looking back to the Church in Church Walk and a bridge over the canal. It's not the bridge shown in the photos above, but the one you'd see if you looked to the left out of the window.
Facing in the other direction we're coming up to the main road between Littleborough and Todmorden. On the corner is Walsden Post Office, and we're very appreciative of it.
Turning right at the corner we see the main road leading to Todmorden on the left and Hollins Road, which clearly used to be the main road, on the right.
We take the right.
Just ahead is the bridge shown in the first three photos,
and here we are standing on it and looking at our house and garden across the canal.
That big tree in the garden obscures our view along the canal to the right of the picture (left, looking out of the window). More importantly it shades our conservatory cum greenhouse, which makes its greenhouse function of limited value. John has plans to get it chopped.
On the other side of the bridge there's the view of the canal and towpath leading in the Tod direction.
Just over the bridge we turn right into Hollins Meadow, where there now appears to be a slight hint of sunshine.
Turning right into Church Walk it's dull again. There's our motorhome under a blanket of snow.
This must have been our shortest ever Sunday walk.
