We noticed when we visited the Braque church on 27 September that there were many very large houses in the Arts & Crafts style on the road leading to the cliff. Next day we returned to visit one of these the Parc de Moutier. Sadly the chateau was closed (for winter, or ever??), but the garden was open. The weather was rather miserable: low light, no contrast, totally overcast, misty. This house was the first to be designed by the British architect Edwin Lutyens. I didn't know he'd built anything in France. It does look rather an apprentice work - blank gables, roof dormers oddly dominant, whole building covered in stucco looking like concrete. Still you know he was only 29. Oh and the garden was designed by Gertrude Jekyll.
