Dorset Trip - Return via Cheddar

Last week we took Esmé with us to visit her cousins at Dan & Harriet's in Dorsetshire. Chris will blog lots of pix and stories I'm sure. Didn't do much myself, too busy recovering from driving and the diesel at £1.47 a litre.

Going down we used a temporary holiday site being marshalled by the Camping and Caravan club near Cheddar at Rourke's Drift, I think. But on the return we stayed at a Motorhome Facts rally at a Cheddar site. The on line instructions for the location of the site were completely wrong at the detailed final approach stage, but the actual signage put up on site was very clear and accurate, so we arrived without diversion, unlike some others who didn't believe their eyes on arrival. Hence, we pitched up next to very expensive Rapidos, Artos and a whole squadron of Hymers.

It's worth mentioning that this was the least expensive way of motorhoming for us so far (so-called 'wild camping' excluded). These temp and rally sites were about £7-8 a night. Chez Danny we pitched in the parish council's field for £10 for 2 nights. No services of course, but our wonder solar panel supplied juice and the temp/rally sites had toilet waste disposal and fresh water.
