The Courtauld's 'new' main entrance into the reception area of Eltham Palace. At the time it and the flanking towers were described by an architectural critic as a well designed cigarette factory.
Chris and I have been meaning to visit Eltham Palace since it opened in 1999. It was rather splendid. For me it brought back memories in the early sixties of our curate at Oldham Parish Church with whom I had many discussions about art. On one afternoon we visited Manchester Art Gallery. I enthused over the pre-Raphaelites; he explained impressionism. He was Christopher Courtauld.
Splendid example of garrya eliptica outside the prols entrance, like where you pay.
There's no photography inside the palace, by the way.
