More Outside Drainage Issues

No sooner had Expertreat finished, cleared off and sent their massive bill than the flood siren wailed like Christmas 1941 and Walsden was again deluged.
We know it's very difficult round our way to drain the surface water in a predictable and practical manner - water runs wheresoever it willeth, but mainly downhill. We are on a very step hill, leading to ... via the canal ... a natural watercourse. Indeed our little culverted stream is now an intake for the canal. However it is not the only way excess surface water finds its way to the sea via the canal. During deluges some of it flows via next door's garden, through the very spot that Expertreat have spent so much of my money trying to drain.

For me, this is the composting area. The wooden one is still there and full. Behind it is a building materials one tonne bag full of autumn compost. The area had been cleared for Expertreat to put in a drain down the side of the house to the canal. The silt can be clearly seen that was brought under and over the gravel boards at the base of the fencing.
Next door have a land drain along their side of the fence, but it was overwhelmed by the force of surface water last Saturday.
