Le Grand Départ

Anne and Christine say good-bye just before we have the farewell photoshoot, and board the coach for Dunkerque and home.

Before Dunkerque we just called at Malo-les-Bains for a last look at an embarkation beach with splendid municipal lavatories and viewing platform.

This is the view to industrial Dunkerque ...

Malo is a 19th century seaside town, full of fin de siècle architectural charm which largely escaped war-time damage.

We rather liked La Poste's message on this delivery van (sorry I really should draw the line at French having a singular possessive apostrophe 's').

We used to go to Malo-les-Bains quite a lot on shopping trips. Good restaurants and a real contrast to Dukirk
